Hematologija klase Amphibia nedovoljno je istražena na području Bosne i Hercegovine. O hematologiji nižih taksona ove klase, a pogotovo nespecifične i „nezanimljive” vrste kao što je Bufo bufo (obična krastača), koja nije ugrožena ili posebno privlačna naučnicima ali i široj javnosti, ne zna se skoro ništa. U radu je predstavljena morfologija krvnih ćelija, ali i diferencijalna krvna slika dvije populacije obične krastače sa područja Tuzlanskog kantona. Utvrđeni su svi tipovi krvnih ćelija, a diferencijalna krvna slika pokazala je da postoje određene razlike u zastupljenosti pojedinih formi leukocita kod posmatranih populacija, te prisustvo određenih parazita u krvi istraživane vrste. Ovaj rad naglašava važnost postojanja što opširnijeg, pristupačnog registra podataka o biologiji svih vrsta koje nas okružuju, pa tako i vrste Bufo bufo, te pruža pregled dostupnih informacija o biologiji i specifičnoj hematologiji pomenute vrste.
